Most of those "life skills" I learned from my parents.
We learned basic fix it stuff from helping my father.
We learned finance and housekeeping stuff from my mother.
But that was back in the "good old days" when parents had a lot more responsibilities.
Schools were for academic learning. Home was where you learned everything else.
Most of the knowledge I got myself, it does not merit the school and teachers.
It's not bragging, it's life experience and practice, and each of us eventually gain experience, which could not give any school and university.
Sometimes in school we were forced to deal with unnecessary things that are not useful to me in life in general.
Very expensive knowledge I received only in adult life.
Schools need to get kids to learn, but the school is not an absolute truth, we now know that scientists and journalists and politicians and doctors and lawyers and historians can deceive people, textbooks for schools also written by people who can make mistakes, ...
A person can be an excellent student in school and at the university, but to be a loser in life,,, ... Because not all the knowledge he received ... work in life .. This knowledge can not work if there is a lie ))
Some schools seem to be dropping the ball with life skills. I guess they are hoping that parents will fill in that spot.
I'm appalled. How could anyone expect THAT?
If schools are supposed to teach everything, why not just have schools raise kids while we're at it. They could leave home at 5 and parents would have no responsibility.
I'd almost be willing to stake a bet on this: if this thread keeps going, irate parents will be popping up insisting that parents today 'don't have time'

Because of all the cute accessories you get at the baby shower.
