If you do tourism - I am in Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism Management major, you'll get to meat new people, and your job will be very dynamic, but at the same time demanding. I wouldn't know anything about Genetic Engineering, although my husband is a Mechanical Engineer. If you need more information about that, tell me.

Genetic Engineering
+Make something new.
+Explore new frontiers
+Stable Job
+Contribute to science (leave a legacy of new discoveries behind).
+No big lows
-No big highs
-Probably work at a desk.
-Rigid work environment (most likely)
?Same people day after day. (good if you're an introvert)

Marketing/Tourism
+Dynamic work environment.
+Fun at times.
-Stressful at times.
-Unstable
-No lasting legacy.
?Meet new people all the time (good if you're an extrovert)

I'd say Genetic Engineering, because I think it's more important, but you should do what you love.

I don't agree about unstable. Hospitality Industry is number 3 industry in USA after automotive and food industry...And you do meet new people all the time - there are all kinds of people coming to an agency for example, or hotel, cruise ship, etc.
