Oh, ok, sorry. Forgive me, I thought you were accusing me of not knowing what solace meant!

No issue with you. I was addressing the def. to Unite but I didn't want to seem like I was speaking for you....we are on the same side!

It is unfortunate that he/she does not learn - yes LEARN, what is REALLY happening within the schools - CLEARLY he/she does not know

It is the trying out that is the problem. What is the point when a child knows he is not as talented as some others but would still find "solace" in playing a CHILDS GAME? Hello are you there?

No, it is not the problem

People try and fail every day - it is called LIFE

Something that YOU clearly do not understand -

I'm sorry you do not

I suppose a person could move to another country if it is that bad for them. I would not encourage that. I would encourage you to stay and stand up for what you believe to be right for you.
I am a teacher in a low income school in Mississippi.....practically every kid I have ever taught is one of those "left behind" kids. I have never seen sports be a dictator in a school. Schools are under WAY too much pressure from tests to let sports be the end all be all!

I do live under government everyday and because people want to give more control to the government, I live under more and more government all the time. What I believe is right is to allow the people of communities make choices for themselves rather than allowing the government to come in and micromanage everything.

Just for the record, are you suggesting that a child who does not participate in school sports is "left behind"?

No he is not so impressionable that he feels like they are dictating his life. As I have stated before my son is in a sport that is outside of school and he dictates what happens with it. Sad but true the teacher was disappointed that his Football sport would interfere with the sport my child does. And you know he said maybe he would fit in better if he played Football BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH why because that is related to the school. SCREW THAT!!!!

Did the teacher hold a gun to his head and make him try out.

It wouldn't matter if the teacher held a gun to his head because you see my son is not a Phony he is a real person and will stand up for himself and realize he doesn't have to play Football to be somebody in school because in turn they are all nobody to him.

I probably would have heard about that on the news, so I am guessing no.

No it wasn't my kid you heard about on the news but there are plenty of others.

I often suggest things to my kids that they do not do. Oh no, how dare I? How dare I do anything but talk about academics with kids, how dare I let them have fun in life.

Let me guess you also suggest to them it would be wise for them to participate in a sport if they want to be somebody.

I did have to go to college to take some EDUCATION courses (not educating courses). Where did you go to college?

Did I say I went to college? Oh no I'm sorry I didn't get the opportunity, but that's ok I guess I didn't need it.

I do read before I write, I was taught to do that in college.

Sorry, I have too much experience as a public school educator to be crushed by your unfounded opinions stemming from one experience in one, self-proclaimed, poor school and school district, regardless of how many kids you have.
I am also sorry you think you have had to much experience as a public school educator, because my unfounded opinion as you call it tells me that you could use some more courses on professionalism. And if I were to move I would avoid your area where you could possibly be educating (oh no wait) I mean counseling my children.
You told me yourself your not a teacher, your just a counsler. MY BAD.

Just so that you know it doesn't take a college education to know that there is no such thing as an unfounded opinion.
AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHY IT IS AN OPINION.

I can assure you there is no laughing going on at the governors office over our childrens EDUCATION. Are you people really proud of yourselves only wanting to serve 1 instead of a thousand? Yes, sports are in the way of EDUCATION IN ALL OF THE USA. You need to get caught up on the numbers, cause Lord knows we sure don't have the letters (meaning grades for those who don't understand) holding us up. I'm sorry you all can not come up with some better words instead of turning all your energy on me as one. This is prime example of what goes on in our schools against children. Play nice girls.
