Or who would admit to using one. This is a pretty simple problem. John, as critical as I myself can be about the school system's deficits, this one isn't proving your point that well.

Perhaps the point is that up until a certain period of time, the only calculators we used were slide rulersfor complex problems and we managed quite well.

I messed up and voted for the third option . I thought it said, "Nope, I didn't need a calculator and I started grade school after 1950." and I skipped the first option since I didn't just BARELY manage to do it without a calculator, "despite starting grade school after 1950."

Maybe its me... but I don't think a calculator would help here.

If you can't get the answer without one, most likely you wouldn't know what to punch in on the calculator..
