Has anyone had any trouble or success at getting kids placed into the right levels for reading groups, math programs, etc. when moving to a new school?
I don't mean extra curricular, but things related to their levels in reading and math - for kids ranging from advanced to learning disorders?
Once, when we moved from NJ to FL. Our youngest was in a NJ gifted program, and when we got to FL, they discounted the transcript info, and told us the gifted class was full. It was a horrible year until the standardized test results were in, and he scored in the 99th percentile across the board. The next year's placement was appropriate.
We've lived in three states so far, and FL was the only time we had a problem.
We did not have any issues having our middle boy's IEP (for a learning disability) transfer.
