I am confident that day will arrive. The United States is a nation of free market dogmatist idiots with a populace of irrational sheeple, but the Chinese are much more pragmatic and probably have a higher average IQ.
Having the world's largest economy helps support a powerful military and provides the potential to build an even larger military. In contrast, a declining nation like the United States really can't afford to keep plowing so much money into its military. Also, eventually China will have more advanced weapons than our military since they will have the economy needed to foster research and development. Heck, we can't even build our own submarines independently today simply because we do not/cannot manufacture the required high-tech components.
