Administrators at a school in the South Suburbs of Chicago are up in arms over a state law (House Bill 0183) that requires schools to post small signs announcing that guns cannot be carried in schools.

The new law relates to a new concealed-carry license law, reports the SouthtownStar, a suburban newspaper. Schools in Illinois did not allow guns previously. Now, though, schools — and churches, government agencies, liquor stores and certain other organizations — must post 4-by-6-inch stickers as visible reminders that guns are forbidden on premises.

Just when it could not get any dumber, and these are the people who have influence over kids for many hours a day.

To summarize a comment from the news; the signs are made so the lowest common denominator will still understand such basic instructions, the school officials obviously have sunken even further than this.

This makes other threads even more hilarious, or sad; things like spanking in school, how much time kids should be in school, teaching values in school, etc, oh yes, I will really trust schools on these issues when they have such idiots in charge.

do you really think that someone who brings a gun to k12 is going to obey the signs no guns allowed?

More irony: To be up in arms originally meant to have a weapon and be ready for a fight.
Up in arms
I wonder if students should be forbidden to use the phrase "up in arms" in Chicago.

The sad fact is even if they draw a gun they can be removed. Ridiculous.

Of course not. But at least they can't go to court and say they didn't know.

What a stupid idea...someone on the school board must have a family member who runs a sign company.

If moronic school officials spent half as much time educating kids, we'd be way ahead.

I have ZERO use for today's school system.

If they would teach literacy to the point at which the kids can read the word "gun", the pictograph sign would not be necessary.
