People that aren't real life friends almost never like or comment on my posts (I rarely post now, but that's not the point).
Is liking the status of finishing high school even if you don't talk to the person in real life a new trend? I've talked to some of these people in real life but if even acquatiences, not more than that. Is this a new trend?
This really isn't an education question ... although you do need some educating about civilized behavior. Finishing high school is an accomplishment, and it's good manners to congratulate someone on their accomplishments, even if they're only acquaintances.
This is nothing to do with Education. But people who can see your post who are your FB friends and sometimes FB friends of friends will like it as well.
Presumably because you posted about it on FB, you feel some sense of accomplishment and wanted to share that with everyone on your friends list on FB. Whether you post frequently or not, if it shows up in someone else's feed they're going to think. "Hey, dude graduated highschool, he must be feeling good about it! I'm going to hit like to let him know I think it's great that he's achieved this milestone in his life."
It's not a new thing, but a like on FB for such statuses is the equivalent of a tip of the hat in your direction from an acquaintance for a job well done, versus an enthusiastic hug and sqealing congratulations from close friends and family.
You are posting an accomplishment publicly, and are confused about people reading it and responding in a socially appropriate manner?
Social media has its own etiquette, but "liking" a post is typically just an acknowledgement, a nicety.
