Mine was fun, too! I have to admit I wasn't doing Facebook at the time.

Speaking of spouses, we went to DH's 45th. Someone asked him how he got me to go. I answered that he came to mine, and they are more fun. DH said, "Well, more alcohol anyway!" (I went to HS in the Pittsburgh area.) We didn't go to my 45th, which was advertised on FB. Our daughter was getting married that same summer, and we had enough going on w/o a trip to Pittsburgh.

It's a serious issue for college reunions too. I spent a few years working at my alma mater's alumni relations office and worked closely with the Reunion team. Even as we have added a 60th Reunion class to the mix, the number of attendees has dropped off. Alumni don't feel the need to come back and reconnect when keep in touch with everyone on Facebook and see who they want to see. The college reunion program is such a big deal at a fairly small school that there are 3 full time staff members on Reunion alone plus a further 4 or 5 for whom Reunion is a major part of their job description. The demand is still there from the older alumni and recent grads like to come back together to party, but we have completely lost grads from the 80s - early 2000s. Its a shame.
