I have a friend with a child who has just turned 18, on the autism spectrum. She is highly functioning in nearly every academic area (especially with computers/technology), and her mother is looking for a live-in transition university highly focused on both a quality college education, but also on social support and encouragement.
Money is not an issue, but the quality of the program is a huge concern. She wants her daughter to be encouraged to be both self-reliant, and to make new friends. A location in either the United States or Canada is ideal; either would work well for them.
I am looking around the internet to help her in her search, and curious if anyone here has any leads or experience with any universities/organizations such as this?
Thank you so much in advance to anyone who has words of encouragement/advice/suggested leads!
