I am contemplating to move to the West, either to Eastern Europe or to the US. Most people are saying that Poland is where all the youngsters are heading to now. It appears that German is a more demanded language within Poland and beyond its boundaries. I wonder should I pick up some basic Polish or German?

Most of the participants in this education forum are in the United States. Neither of those languages will be particularly useful here.

You could also ask in the Europe forum, http://www.city-data.com/forum/europe/

What languages do you speak now?

If you live in Poland, you should probably learn Polish first.

German! It is the most popular and valuable language in Western Europe after English. Besides, it opens up a world of fine culture, great music and other nice things of life. And finally it is simply beautiful.

I teach German and French and love both language, but I think that French is much more useful. German is really only spoken in a few countries and has little use outside of those areas. French is a world language and has about double the amount of speakers as German.
