I was watching discovery health, and they have this show on called "super quads" or something to that effect, anywhoo, it was mentioned on there that kids go back to school in early August, (the 4th to be exact) and that school lunches cost $4.00 per child! Isn't that a little steep for the price of a kids lunch and isn't that kinda early to start school?

I was just wondering. Because my daughter's lunch costs $1.75 and she started school Sept.5 I was just wondering what the norm was!

The kids here in this part of NC go back around the 24th of August, they used to go back around the 8th but changed it for some reason. Now they don't even get a full two weeks for Christmas. It's awful!! Lunch prices are about $1.45.

Our kids start in August.... I think the 14th this year. The lunches are nowhere near that price you saw. It's $2.00 give or take. During my school days, I remember returning the Monday after Labor Day and we ended the year sooner as well. On a side note, our system has implemented year-round-attendance @ one of our elementary schools. That school has seen some great achievements on an academic level as well as attendance.

Where in TN do you live? That school year round is an intriguing thing to me!

We are in Chattanooga. It's a pilot school associated w/Benwood Schools where they give teachers incentive to teach there including housing, recruitment, salary and team bonuses.
