I'm very sad right now.
I've after all these years kept in touch with my third grade teacher..

So special was our relationship, I was a an ADHD kid to the extreme, I know I gave her a run for her money..
She took me into her home when things were bad..

She passed away today, her Daughter let me know..

You teachers have no idea sometimes how much of an impact you make..

Thank you

You have my sympathy, Caligula. When someone who has played an important part in our lives leaves us it is really a loss and a time for memories. Sometimes we don't even realize how special that person was to us until they are gone.

There have been a handful of teachers in my past that, long after I left school, I realized were reaching out to me and making an extra effort to stimulate and heighten my skills. And also like you to provide a little emotional support along the way.

Your life certainly must be enriched that you are able to recognize the kindnesses.

Yes...teachers can really make a difference in a childs life.
I've had a few incredible teachers in my life as well.

I'm glad you met this teacher and have such good memories of her.
She must have been a wonderful person.

It sounds as though she was one of the great ones Caligula1!

Those are the teachers that deserve massive recognition. I bet your staying in touch was huge recognition for her. The teachers I know really appreciate this type of thing as generally it's a bit of a thankless job.
