Hi there --
has anybody moved to the US with a dependent child with special needs who is an adult? We are not US citizens - and we'd be on a visa for work.
I read some things that say he will not be eligible and other things that say it depends --
Thanks

Eligible for what? How old is your child? Students with special needs can remain in public school in the US until the age of 22.

Sorry -- I didn't post enough info -- he'll be 21 next year - eligible to enter the states at all as a dependent adult to live.
Thanks!

I'm not sure what you are looking for. There is a shortage of care options for special needs adults here. Private group homes are expensive.
If you have decent options in your home country, I would stay there.

Please double check. If his visa is tied to yours or your spouse's it will not extend past 21. If there are provisions based on his disability only an experienced immigration attorney can advise on.

We aren't in our home country currently, it has to do with where my husband gets a job -- we don't need a private group home, it's about whether he'll be let into the country at all --
Thanks

Thank you -- yes this is the big question -- sounds like the company has an immigration team -- thanks.

Your post would be better in the legal immigration section
I guess it would depend on what type of disability he has.
