I just finished my MAT in May and hope to be teaching high school in the fall. This question is for experienced teachers. What bit of advice do you wish you'd known before you ever set foot in your own classroom that would have helped you?

Thanks.
Ivory

Make sure you have a great classroom management system in place that meet school guidelines and have more lesson plans ready than you think you will use. Make as many positive parent contacts before school starts as you can.

A classroom management plan is crucial. Be firm but flexible, consistent discipline and expectations will go along way. You must "train" any age level to your classroom management style. Always have a back up plan in case the lesson, equipment or the day falls apart.
