Homeschool
I'm not sure im posting this in the right area. I am looking for parents that are homeschooling in the state of Missouri. We are considering this for our daughters, and have researched and have been trying to talk to other parents in our area. We contacted the regional director (i believe thats what their called) she gave me the name of one family. I have tried numerous times by email to talk and get some input. It seems that there is noone that wants to talk about it. Which i find very odd. We dont want personaly information, we just have basic questions and thought that talking to parents who are experiencing this would help us.
Thanks...

You might try posting in the Missouri section, if you are looking only for input from Missouri parents... or if you have general questions, try here, as there are a few of us on this board. (I'm homeschooling in CT, and I've also done it in FL.)
For information on laws and such, you might try www.hslda.com. For support groups, you could go to groups.yahoo.com and try searching for "homeschool Missouri." I've found a few local support groups by doing that. Good luck!

Ty. I have checked the laws in Mo. and i feel okay with that part. I talked to a few in the Mo. forum, which Stepka was extremely helpful. We are toying with do with go with a program thats already lined out for us, or do we just wing it. We have found a program from "The Christian Academy of America" out of Texas, they charge a fee, send the curriculum, test, and give report cards. Which sounds not so bad considering this is our first year at this. But on the other hand, we have two that we want to homeschool and the cost would be like 936. and thats not including the test to see where they are at now. (we are on a tight budget)
Or do we just wing it and learn on our own...and how well does that hold up. I dont want a "school" setting, but i dont want to be worried all the time wether im doing enough or the right thing. I'm very excited at homeschooling but yet extremely nervous.

We just wing it for the most part... but I know that's not for everyone. A support group would definitely help you to relax, as will experience once you start. How old are your kids? Have you read any books about homeschooling yet?

I’m homeschooling my son using beestar.org for a while. This is a website for primary school kids. I recommend beestar to you. No matter you’re in Missouri or other states, you can just let your children do exercises on it. There are weekly exercises of math, English Language Art, science, etc. These exercises are very interesting, most with vivid pictures or cute stories, or based on practical questions. May be you can have a try.

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate them. My girls are 12 and 8. My 12 year old is a little behind in reading, comp. and the school had done nothing, and my 8 year old is on a high school level, and was bored in school.
I have tried to find a support group around this area and have contacted the Regions Director in KC, Mo. since they dont have one in our area, and she gave me the name of one person, ive tried contacting her but she has no interest. It seems that noone has any interest in talking...except ya'all on here.
I am going to def. check out that website..thanks again.
How does one find a support group...mayber theres something im missing.

Try this link to start... of course I don't know the area of Missouri you're in, but you might be able to find a group local to you: Yahoo! Groups : Search Results
Usually homeschoolers are bursting at the seams with information and helpfulness towards new homeschoolers... at least that's been my experience, both as a novice and as someone a bit more experienced with homeschooling.
If you go to church, you might ask around there as well, or even at other churches in your area, as many areas have a large Christian homeschooling group. If you're not Christian, don't worry, because there are usually secular groups as well!

I visit a message board for my "support group" Do a search for Five in a Row. They have a great and affordable program. Their message boards are the best around for information and support.
