Oh, HELL to the no.
This seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. For one, there is no way there can be adult supervision of each of the kids in their rooms. Right there, you're essentially leaving a roomful of nine-year-olds to monitor themselves all night long. Seriously, what's to stop them, from, say, "playing around" by pretending to toss someone else out the window? Obviously, that's an extreme situation...but it's a very do-able situation.
There are lesser issues as well, quite obviously. No, this strikes me as (at best) horribly irresponsible.
I give up. This thread is a perfect example of people reading the first page, skipping the next dozen and posting. The first post was written in 2008. Please start a new thread if you have a burning desire to discuss fourth grade out of state field trips.
