Isn't this a question for the tech person at your school? Our teachers had a full day of training on how to set up and use powerschool, our on-line grade system.

I had the ability to enter grades on the school computer daily if I wished. I usually didn't, keeping them on an Excel spreadsheet instead, which was compatible with the school's software.

I think it's a fine idea. I'd also like to enter notes to go with the grades, as well as on behavior, etc.

Our schools also make use of this technology. For some reason (is this the new norm?) high school students only receive two report cards per year. If they don't stay on top of their averages, by the time they realize they might be in trouble, it could be too late. One of my sons was out recovering from surgery at the end of winter break, and still hasn't found anybody who might have his first semester report card. I would be lost without Parent Connect.

I don't think it is being fully utilized by parents here, however. You must go to the school office after registering to pick up your password. You can change it, but first you must use the one generated by the school.

We can check on attendance, discipline, grades and assignments.

Four report cards, four interim progress reports here.

We've used an on-line system for years. I was one of the Luddites that resisted it initially but have somewhat converted. One problem-gave a quiz last Friday during last period. School out at 3:10, parent had emailed me by 4 wanting to know why the grade hadn't been posted yet.
