The teacher shouldn't be prosecuted by default unless the parents choose to press charges. If they do and she is convicted, the daughter should be able to "pardon" the teacher once she's fully emancipated (which is just a few months away). It should also be much easier for teenagers to be legally emancipated from their parents.
A teacher is just a person you hire to provide a service, they shouldn't have any special laws associated with them. For example, if you occasionally give piano lessons and one of your students is 17, does that mean you have to register with some government bureaucracy so they could apply stricter age-of-consent laws to you just in case you ever decide to make out? This is silly...
The parents should be in control of their dependents, not the government! |

The sad part is not that it happened.
The sad part is, since the teacher was female, she'll get off with a slap.
Had that been a male, he'd be on the list, blacklisted from ever working again, and in jail for about 10 years.

What's even more disturbing is the fools on this message board trying to stick up for and make excuses for the teacher. Your statements makes me question your personal sexual behavior especially if you are also teachers.
