What annoys me is the prevalence of people who seem to think things like "noone" is a word. It's "no one" or "nobody", not noone.

Oh, and using "would of/could of/should of" instead of would have, et cetera.

I just took the test and scored a 41%, apparently I misspelled a few words, but then again I was alittle confused as to what's preferred in the British Language.

I too got 41% right. I was embarrassed quite honestly as I consider myself a pretty good "speller".

I know one word not on the list that I always have trouble with is "believe". I'm always spelling it worng it seems.

I got a letter from a business friend of mine who is well educated (at least I thought he was ;-) and he had seen a dead deer carcass on the side of the road that morning....but he spelled it something like carcussess. I was floored when I saw that. How bad is that ? :-)

20 out of 25.

That's not as well as i had expected. Although, a couple of my "errors" were assessed on the "preferred spelling" questions.

I scored 21 bet I could have gotten 100% if I copied and put them in a doc with spell check.

Here is 1 that use to give me trouble restaurant. Now I can't even remember how I use to spell it but it was wrong.

Now I don't feel that bad. I wasn't the only one. I got a 59 I think.

I think with all of those word spellings you find yourself second guessing.

This is a bogus spelling test.

When three questions ask the "preferred" spelling and two ask for the "preferred" spelling in British English, that leaves 20% of the test asking you what the preferred spelling of a word is rather than the "correct" spelling of the word.

How is that a spelling test? If one way is "preferred" above another, that doesn't make the variation "incorrect"!

I failed, but several of the ones I got wrong were these "preferred" spelling questions.

And who the hell cares what the preferred spelling is in Britain! lol!

I used to spell accommodate wrong every time, but apparently I know how to spell it now 9no little red line this time)! Liaison I learned how to spell at a job I had where they were always talking about the liaison to this and the liaison to that, etc..... only had to embarrass myself once with that one.

Dare I say I hardly need to remember how to spell now that everything I write I type and so spell checker helps me out A LOT (which a lot of people spell wrong as alot!)
