In another thread, another poster was talking about elementary school kids going to bed at 8:00 PM as if it were the norm. My kids have never gone to bed before 9:00. I'm curious what your children's normal bed time was when they were in elementary school.

Thanks

If I remember correctly, my mother strictly enforced the following school-night bedtimes for me:

1st Grade: Started at 8:00, later became 8:30
2nd Grade: 8:30
3rd Grade: 9:00 (maybe 8:30?)
4th Grade: 9:00
5th Grade: 9:00
6th Grade: 9:00 or 9:30
7th Grade: 10:00
8th Grade: 10:30
9th Grade: 11:00? Around this time, I stopped having a bedtime.

My kids are in their rooms at 8, and they fall asleep when they're ready. My son (8) is usually snoring by 8:30, and my daughter (6) often plays and reads until 9:30. My son wakes up naturally around 7:00, and my daughter usually wakes up around 8:00 or 8:30.

My kids were usually asleep by 8:30 in early elementary and maybe 9:00 in later years. They left for school at 7:45. We have since moved and the elementary schools start at 9:30 here so if our kids would have been going here for elementary school they could have stayed up later than this.

My second grader and fifth grader are in bed at 8:00, no exceptions. They wake at 7:00 and are at school by 7:50.

My mother strictly enforced 9:00 PM until I was old enough to get a job. I'm pretty sure that was HER bedtime . I don't ever recall a time when I went to bed before 9:00.

My son is in 5th grade. He is rarely in bed before 9. He has football practice until 8:30 some nights. My older ones went to bed around 9:30-10:00 when they were younger.

My parents never enforced a bedtime as far back as I can remember. Although, when I was 12 I started raising dairy goats so I was up at 4am for at least 7 months out of the year to milk and feed. That kind of stuck with me and now it's rare that I go to sleep past 10 pm, and I'm 25

My son is in fourth grade. He is usually in bed by 8:20, 8:30 at the latest. He has always been one who falls asleep quickly. I wake him up around 7:15 and he is still sleeping like a rock at that point.
