I'm supposed to be a new teacher pretty soon, and I've heard that I might have to work with some pretty tough kids and confront less than ideal education situations. I was also told that the teaching theories I'm learning may not be enough to deal with everything that may arise. In that case, I need some perspective. What are some proven strategies to help students from low-income areas thrive? I'm expecting I may also have to deal with discipline issues. Thanks
