June 11 is the last student day. We haven't gotten next year's calendar yet, so I don't know when we're starting. There will be no change in the number of days of school, though.

There is a law in NC that mandates schools must let out by June 10 and may not begin until August 25. Most schools use those as the begin and end dates.

DD will get out a few weeks early as she is not going to a traditional school. Some of the students in her school will be done as early as the first week of May. Others will have class until the third week...depending on the schedule for final exams and such.

We're near Daytona Beach, FL. Our last day for students is June 8 and for teachers, June 10.

In some localities in NH, it's around June 23. Most start again at the end of August. I'm not sure if the inevitable "snow days" are added to that. I know the summer "season" (that most New England seacoast towns depend so heavily on for tourism), has been getting shorter and shorter as the school year cut more and more into summer, on both ends. This has really hurt many people who have small Beach cottages that they try to rent out. This is a traditional way for families without huge incomes to meet the huge burden of property taxes here. With the shrinking of the summer season from at least 11 weeks (sometimes) to a bit more than 8 weeks, it has really hurt--particularly since rental prices haven't increased much in the past 10 years, while property taxes probably have increased 300-400%.

Students start the day after Labor Day. Teachers started the Monday before that (Aug. 31), except for new teachers who started the week prior (Aug. 24). We go late. The last day this year is June 24. Next year June 21.

For students, the last day is June 3 (for teachers, it is June 4). Students return to school August 23 (teachers are back on August 13). Most districts in the San Antono area have a similar schedule (give or take a day or two).

That's exactly why NC passed the law. Summers were getting ridiculously short while more and more teacher work days were stuffed into the calendar. Schools here were letting out mid-late June and starting up early-mid August. One year we had an unusual number of snow days but teachers wouldn't give up their work days to make up for it....a neighboring district held mandatory school on Saturday for the students but it was optional for teachers.

Kids get out on June 12th, teachers go for another week after that. The kids go back to school the day after Labor Day, teachers report Aug 23rd.
