In contrast, you'll never meet more genuine, down to earth, sincerely nicer people than you will in El Paso. Generally, the Albuquerque hispanic population think of themselves as direct descendants of Spaniards, and therefore, not "mexican". Pasenos openly embrace and celebrate their mexicanidad and I cannot wait to move back. Of course, I'm speaking in generalities; every town has its own set of jerks, but I often think of ABQ as L.A. of the Southwest.
A little angry are we?
Yes there are rude people in Albuquerque, just like any other city in the WORLD!
When I was in El Paso last year, my girlfriend and I experienced the same type of RUDE people all over El Paso. It could be because my girlfriend has blonde hair and blue eye's.....I don't know!
However El Paso is not the friendliest place on earth like some people here claim. If you are not from there, people seem standoffish and impolite.
Oh by the way most hispanics are descendants of spaniards and aztec indians.

My wife is a natural blonde and has green eyes, I'm sure that wasn't the problem...

Most Hispanics? Did you mean most Mexican people? Even so, most Mexican people, claim their Mexican heritage as their own and don't really pay attention to their Spanish ancestry. Much like Americans do with England.

I have light skin (pasty white), light brown eyes, and light brown hair, but I don't claim to people that I'm Spanish at all.. hell, I'm Mexican-American and damn proud of it.

Mexicans are also descendants of Spain, like it or not! I understand the sensitivity of Mexican people towards Spaniards. However most people in the world carry bloodlines from every race......Spanish, Indian and European etc.
Race is NOT an issue here, it's how friendly people are in El Paso.....which I beg to differ is not a very friendly city.

Eh? I never refuted that mexicans are (partly) descendants of spain. In fact, pretty much all latin america, aside from say brazil or argentina, has spanish roots. So I tend to lump there in there as hispanics too. I've been to very unfriendly cities and I will say that El Paso, for its size, is remarkably friendly. We may have lost some of that Mayberry sheen from yesteryear, but by and large this city is still a friendly place to be.

El Passeaux will become famous soon enoughEl Passeaux will become famous soon enough
I moved to El Paso about 2 years ago. I grew up in Boston and lived in Chicago before a work transfer. I love El Paso, I find the people extremely friendly, the weather nice, and its a nice laid back atmosphere. Sure there are things that take getting used to. A guy will say he will be by tomorrow at 2 to fix something at your house and shows up 3 days later, and the wind and dust is a bit much in the spring, but overall, I love it here and have had no problem with the mexican culture. I think it is all in your attitude, whether to embrace it or want them to change.

Default abq vs el paso

dude i lived in abq for 6months and the crime i saw there was horrible when i was there 3 cops were shot dead in 1 day ,it is a nice city and i have alot of friends there but as soon as i was able to transfer i got the hell out of there ,and if you have kids it's not a good place to raise them and if you are single you will be ok but i got the feeling that where ever i was in abq i had to watch my back, as for el paso it is 100%safer and as far as you having to learn spanish to make it here thats a myth after all we are in the us last time i checked and if you are really concerned about spanish move to the westside of el paso and get yourself a mexican girlfriend, boyfriend about the only thing i see wrong for you are wages ,but dont forget it very cheap to live here laters el borracho

once you live somewhere long enough you will find yourself saying there is nothing to do here, i lived in denver for 5 years and the young people and teenagers would always say there was nothing to do there same thing in abq same thing in el paso i visited my aunt and cousins in cali they live 5 minutes from the beach and i asked them when was the last time they went to the beach and they said about 10 years ago ,its what you make of the place ,not so much as what there is to do

3 cops in one day? You mean 2 cops that were killed by an INSANE man, when they went to pick him up on a mental evaluation pick up.
"The crime you saw" Did you actually witness all these crimes? Or is it the crime you heard about on the news, also were you ever a victim when you lived here?
I guess if your happy making minimal $$$ it's a good move for you. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience living in Albuquerque.
