The Outlet Shoppes at El Paso
I just saw the construction going on over there and was pretty impressed at the size of it and how its looking so far. I can't believe its taken this long for us to get one of these outlet malls, but the wait might have been worth it. According to Wikipedia there are going to be some good shops there, here is a list of the stores that are signed up with the mall:
Adidas, Aéropostale's, Aldo, Ann Taylor, Anne Klein, Banana Republic, Bass, BCBG, Brooks Brothers, Calvin Klein Underwear, Carter’s, Casual Male, The Children’s Place, Claire’s, Coach, Converse, Disney Store, Dress Barn, Easy Spirit, EcKo, Famous Footwear, Fragrance Outlet, GAP Outlet, Geoffrey Beene, Le Gourmet Chef, Guess, Gymboree, Hot Dog on A Stick, Hot Topic, Hurley, IZOD, Kasper, Koret, Johnston & Murphy, Jones NY, Journeys, KB Toys, Kay Jewelers, Kitchen Collection, Lancome Designer Fragrance Outlet, Lane Bryant, L'eggs/Hanes/Bali, Levi’s, Dockers, Maidenform, Melek Tax Rebate, Mo'z Bar-b-que, Naturalizer, New Balance, Nike, Nine West, Old Navy, OshKosh, PacSun, Petite Sophisticate, Perry Ellis, Puma, Quiksilver, Rack Room Shoes, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, rue21, Sag Harbor, Samsonite, Skechers, Strasburg Children, Stride Rite, Sunglass Hut, Time Factory Watch Outlet, Tommy Hilfiger, Ultra Diamonds, VF Outlet, Van Heusen, Vitamin World, Wilsons Leather, Zumiez.
So now there will be 4 major malls in El Paso, thats not bad at all. Plus the Las Palmas Marketplace is becoming a major player in the retail dept, and the area around the Zaragosa, Montwood, Joe Battle (loop 375) intersections (El Paseo Marketplace and El Mercado Plaza) is also quickly becoming a large retail/restaurant area, a new SuperTarget, Home Depot, and lots of other stores have opened up there in the past couple of years, a new Best Buy, Petsmart, JCPenny, lots of restaurants and all sorts of smaller shops are currently being built there as we speak. I'm surprised and impressed by all the new commercial construction going on in the area. New palm trees are being planted along these new buildings too, so a lot of it is looking nice.
Texas Real Estate Business - El Paso Retail Market. I know this article is over a year old, but it explains a lot of what is currently going on in the Eastside of town.
I hope the Northeast part of the city gets a mall that rivals those in the other parts of town one day.

Good read there chuco. It's nice that El Paso is getting a new mall with some high end shops. Hopefully in the next 10-15 years I'll be able to stroll through downtown and have my pick at high end retail too. I don't like driving to who knows where to have some decent shopping, so yes, something in my neck of the woods would be very nice. Businesses please take note. Thanks.

Well hey, you are getting a Hot Dog on A Stick...the rest of these are a moot point after that!
(Just had to joke about that. We have those up here in ABQ and I always kind of get a chuckle when I see them. Seriously, this is great news for the EP area).

I believe Cielo Vista & Sunland Park both have "hot dog on a stick", but another is always welcome. I remember always getting the corndogs at cielo vista when I was a kid as far back as I can remember. Me loves them!!

Yeah, I think the thing that kills me about HDOAS is: a) The name (let's face it...not the most appetizing name in the world) and b) their ultra-colorful uniforms!!!
But yeah, they are always a welcome addition to any food court!

I agree brother! I know they are getting a food court, but HDoAS is a good place to add to any shopping mall.
I went up through that area today, to give the kids a ride through Transmountain, and took a quick snapshot of the new outlet mall.

No problem, and I agree with you Holmes. The Downtown area needs to get better, but I think the goal right now of the city is to get the downtown area renovated and get some high end shops in there within the next ten years, it might take a little while, but I'm sure it will eventually happen. This city is frustrated with the current situation of downtown, I hope it gets fixed up quick.

Oh yeah, there's no question the downtown revitalization is already happening. I just wish it would have reached critical mass 5 yrs ago. But then again, I probably wouldn't have found a caliber home like I have now in sunset heights for the ridiculously cheap price I bought it at 1 1/2 yrs ago. So maybe I'll just suck it up for a while..
