UTEP fans will be able to purchase new football season tickets at a discount price Aug. 8-12 as part of a special weather promotion.

For that week only, new season tickets in the Sun Bowl's Bronze Reserved section will be available for the same price as the low temperature in El Paso on Aug. 6 - the first day of the Miners' training camp in Socorro, N.M.

The official reading will be taken at the El Paso Airport.

The anticipated low that day, according to Weather.com's extended forecast, is 78 degrees, which could mean $78. The regular price for Bronze Reserved season tickets is $110.

Information: 747-6150; 747-5234.

Complete question mark. UTEP is in the west division and it is not too shabby. They play the best three teams from the east. Then there is a money game against Southern Florida. I really don't know. 1-11 is sadly not out of the question. Their opening week cupcake is actually one of the stronger schools in the FCS - so even that is not a gimme. I think 7-5 is their realistic ceiling. I'd be happy with a .500 season. Then again, USF is not an unbeatable BCS school like Texas or some of the other bodybag games we have played. We shall see.
