Hi Gentlemen and Gentlewomen,
I just moved to El Paso not even a month ago and I'm in the search for a Used Car. I want to get a sports car, something old like early 2000. If you have purchased a Used Car within the past 6 months, please list the following:
1.) Where did you go?
2.) Make/model/price?
3.) Were you satisfied with the price out the door?
4.) Any negotiation tactics that can be used to lower price specific to El Paso?
My other dilemma is this: I don't have car insurance, it lapsed for 2 months. I know what car I want to get. I know you need to get insurance before you can drive the car off the lot. But what if I buy insurance, and the car isn't even there anymore? I'll be stuck with insurance for a car I don't have! Also, what if I pay in full on the spot? Do I still need insurance?
5.) Please list any provisions provided by either Texas or the dealership in regards to insurance and driving the car off the lot.

Find the car. Before (or as) you complete the purchase, call the insurance company of your choice (State Farm, AllState, whoever) and tell them you just bought a car and give them the VIN. They will take info from you right there and issue you a policy, fax you a temporary card, and voila!
