The military is part of our society and everyone has their own social issues,so this topic is more to include all of the above; Every community has their misfits.

El Paso had many more murders in the 1980s, it seems with the expansion of Fort Bliss, the homicide rate has gone down. Pretty unfair to try to blame all the crime on those who serve this country.

While I am not blaming the military, the homicide rate has gone up since the expansion. I am not sure how you see the numbers otherwise.

22 slain in El Paso in 2012 - El Paso Times

It was in the paper yesterday.

Average number of murders per year per decade in El Paso.

1960s: 12.
1970s: 21.
1980s: 36.
1990s: 36.
2000s: 16.
Source: El"Paso Police Department statistics.

-- But it's more fun to blame all the crime on the USA soldiers.

I also read that article yesterday. AGAIN, I am not specifically blaming the military but homicides have gone up since the expansion of Fort Bliss.

Quote:
With two months left in 2012, this will be the deadliest year in El Paso since 1997.
Quote:
El Paso has not had more than 20 murders in a year since 2003.
Quote:
There were 16 killings last year and five in 2010
Pointing out statistics by the decade really doesn't have much to do with the expansion of Fort Bliss which has taken place over the two to three years.

Interesting to note:

Quote:
Two cases with multiple victims -- two Fort Bliss soldiers fatally shot outside a nightclub in the Lower Dyer area in January and a domestic-related triple slaying in May at a home on Bengal Drive in the East Side.

ABSOLUTELY! At least around EP true. As an ex-military old timer told me, soldiers are" "Young, dumb, and full of ......." well you get the point.
