Default El Paso is once again the 2nd safest large city in the U.S.A

We fell to number 3 last year, but we have moved back up to the 2nd safest large city in the country.
1. Honolulu, HI
2. El Paso, TX
3. San Jose, CA

Is there crime here? Of course there is, but not nearly as bad as some people think. It is generally safe here. When I go to other cities and see their newscasts I'm horrified with seeing all the murders, home invasions and all the other crime that makes their newscasts. I'm glad we don't have a lot of that stuff here.

Most people across the country think of El Paso as a crime filled city that is located next to Mexico, but its funny to see their reactions when you tell them that El Paso is the 2nd safest city in the land, and has been in the top 3 for ten years now.

Thats so cool to hear. You'd think with the border being so close that crime would skyrocket. Good for EP.

Now if i can find where Albuquerque is ranked??

WOW! that was a surprise to see El Paso being the 2nd safest in country. epesally since i.ve heard that El Paso has the poorest people living in it's city limits. I'm not saying all people there are poor cause that would be stupid, but one of the zip codes in the area is considered the poorest in Texas I know cause it was in a newspaper report in SA a couple of months ago. I have a question do you agree with this report?

This truly is impressive to El Paso. I just hope the new mayor will bring Albuquerque up to snuff.

You know I'm sure there are some crimes that go un detected just as much as there are some crooked cops and city administrators in every city, I had the liberty to encounter such types back in the days.
If they say El Paso is safe, and this is the same group that said so before twice I think other than last years rankings then something must be right on, like for example I think theres only been 15 homicides this year in a city fastly approaching the 700 thousand mark, "NOT BAD" not bad at all I say.

What's almost even more impressive is the TREND. Crime in El Paso has gone DOWN every year since 1999. It is at half the rate and far below the national average for crime in the US. Kudos to EP, I didn't know that!

15 murders is not good it's unbeliveable and the post i wrote earlier was not suppose to be negative it's just a report I read a couple months ago on the San Antonio Express News which is a newspaper back over here.

I'm not sure where Albuquerque is this year, but Benjiminer, a member of our MinerReport.com website posted this information that is from 2005.

Moderator cut: linking to competitors sites is not allowed

Actual reported crimes and population 2005.

Albuquerque-490,631 pop. 53 murders, 1150 robberies, 3182 aggravated assaults, 5744 burglaries, 20703 larceny thefts, 3796 vehicle thefts.

El Paso-601,839 pop. 14 murders, 448 robberies, 1857 aggravated assaults, 2151 burglaries, 14925 larceny thefts, 2599 vehicle thefts.

I know that Albuquerque was ranked as 15th most dangerous metropolitan area in 2006. I'm not sure how it fared this year by the same study.
