I remember when they first announced the restoration of the Plaza Theater, back then people said that someone was lining their pockets and that the Plaza would never prevail, I myself knew that downtown needed to start somewhere and with the Plaza coming back to life that it would start a chain of reaction of progress and almost six years later it is starting to become a reality, after the Plaza came the new library and history museum the new federal courthouse is about half completed, the Double Tree is starting to take shape, the Artisian hotel is suppose to open or is it already open?

The Mills Plaza project is next followed by the Blue Flame building, this could be the fuel that downtown needed to come back to life and catch up with the rest of the world.

Mr holmes said: That corner is going to look so sweet when they're done.. and he is very right because you will probably even see me ther displaying and selling my art as well as been a local regular.

Downtown needs to attract dwellers, people that will actually move and live in downtown, downtown will need a pulse of it's own created by those that live there to keep the rythem of progress moving along, so by then downtown El Paso will be seen as a novelty to the rest of El Pasoans living outside of downtown and it can become a tourist attraction for outsiders.

I'm so glad for El Paso that we have Paul Foster and others who are really trying to make a difference in the city. I read reciently that a developer is trying to build 2 new 30 story twin towers in downtown Albuquerque because the downtown has revitalised and is doing well so if ABQ can do this then hopefully in the future EP can as well.

Here's what ABQ is doing to build the towers for those interested.

Looks like Packard Place is going to be 35 to 40 floors according to Vincent Garcia, from Blue Dot.

All the entities in downtown El Paso need to work together. It needs to be cleaned up. The infrastructure has been gradually updated. Mayor Cook and City Council have done the right things to encourage re vitalization.

In the long run, the City of El Paso will benefit most!

I like reading your post because I know exactly where your coming from considering that your a former El Pasoan like myself and you pride yourself with Albuquerque and you have every reason to and theres no doubt that Albuquerque will be seeing some huge changes in the very near future.

Albuquerque looks now like what San Diego use to look like back in 1976, I myself love skycrapers since I was a tot and even until now I'm blessed that I live in a city with awesome buildings and cranes doting all over the central district, I just saw this huge 69 story, the tallest residential building on the west coast get built in one year and people are now starting to move into it,
whats up with the federal building downtown El Paso as we are now in the second year of construction, and now they just realeased plans for the tallest building in the west coast which will be over 1,200 feet high.

El Paso is very lucky to have billionaire Paul Foster, in the bay area there are 47 billionaires and 111 in all of California.

Well, I tried getting pics of the plaza lit up at night, but you can barely see it.. my camera wasn't cooperating with the darkness of night. I'll try and get a better pic.

I constantly check the webcams for progress, but their positioned looking south and west so I can see the federal court house taking shape but most work done on the Double Tree Inn seems to be going on on the westside of the building.
thanks for posting those pictures holmes, try to give you points but the mother brain wont let me.
