Eastwood in 1-4AAAA....... man that is back in the day....lol....

O.K. i was back in the day also in the late 70's and early 80's when at Andress (a younger and slimmer coach Sep...lol...)

1-4AAAA
Andress
Austin
Bowie
Burges
Coronado
El Paso
Irvin

2-4AAAA
Bel Air
Eastwood
Parkland
Riverside
Ysleta
Socorro

El Paso has sure grown since then to add numerous more high schools and districts.

It was more like this back in 1972 - 1978, I lost track when Hanks was built, but then before long all these other new high schools poped out of nowhere, with Socorro becoming it's own city and it's district adding Montwood and Americas.
El Paso school district added Franklin and Chapin, and Ysleta school district ran out of room to grow maybe in Northeast El Paso they still might have some room to squueze in one more high school.

But the high schools alignments were like this:
1-4AAAA
Austin
Andress
Coronado
Burgess
Eastwood
Irvin
2-4AAAA
BelAir
Bowie
El Paso
Jefferson
Riverside
Parkland
Ysleta

District alignments were different we had El Paso schools playing in District 2-4AAAA and we had Eastwood playing in district 1-4AAAA.
Socorro was too small only about 600 students enrolled, Parkland had only 950 students,
Coronado and Eastwood dominated district 1-4AAAA and Ysleta and Bel Air dominated district 2-4AAAA

Ysleta won district 2-4AAAA in Football in 1972, 1975 and 1976 but could'nt handle Eastwood in 72 almost beat them, and Coronado 75 and 76, it won district in basketball only to lose to Eastwood in BI district and Eastwood wins "STATE TITLE" that year.

I remember the PEP RALLY's on Friday morning at school and packed stadiums on Friday nights, the rivalships were alot of fun, Austin/El Paso, would battle for something called the claw, Andress/Irvin would battle for the best of Northeast, Bowie/Jefferson would battle for the best of the central barrios, Eastwood and Coronado would battle for best of the wealthy and Ysleta and BelAir would battle for Pride of the Lower Valley.

I could hear the Ysleta drum corps in the morning all the way to Bel Air and I could hear the echos of the drums beat to the tone, WERE COMING TO GET YOU, Tonight, and sure enough it was off with their scalps.
Eastwood/Coronado and Ysleta/BelAir

THOSE WERE THE DAYS.

I dont know about the tortilla thing but I do know that those two schools could pack the Sun Bowl,I always thought there be a riot between them two, then the Sun Bowl was only thirty thousand seater.
