I think El Paso looks fine just the way it is: a gritty old city with a southwestern feel. Skyscrappers do not fit in with El Paso, it does not have a cosmopolitan feel at all.

True, but still I would like to see at least just ONE skyscraper added downtown. It would make us feel even more like a major city. You can also say we did add a mini-skyscraper with the new federal courthouse.

Skyscapers dont make a city, the people do. The stagnation is not the lack of tall buildings but the peoples' way of thinking. EP is a great town in itself, just clean it up, renovate, not destroy. Many cities capitalize on their uniqueness and revitalize their area.

Trust me, you dont want to live in a concrete jungle. People that do are always looking foward to the weekend to get to the countryside.

I think downtown should be remodeled with the buildings they have now..Fort Worth made their old Kress building into condos...I have often told my mother..that the same could be done to the old Plaza Hotel...but would the citizens support the revitalization of downtown ELP

The thing with El Paso is that the economy blows. You dont want to have a big beautiful EMPTY building downtown. I left El Paso a few years ago to Baltimore. A city with a great skyline, but there are business here that bring money into the city that need the space of a big building. These buildings are not for asthetics its more out of necessity. If ElPaso continues to grow I could see a sky scraper, but if it continues to stagnate I cant imagine they would build one. Just my .02
