I don't care too much about restaurants. I still prefer home cooking over the cookie cutter, over priced garbage they put out at the restaurants. Besides after working at restaurants (fine and low end) I have observed two trends. The preparation of the food is not always prepared and cooked with the utmost cleanliness and care (eg dropped food on the floor still served to customers, serving expired products, cooks and chefs not washing hands after using the bathroom ...). The second observation is that the ice machine is usually dirty and outputs contaminated due to poor or lack thereof maintenance.

People would be shocked to see how much of modern restaurant food comes from microwaved and warmed up prepacked containers, regardless of price.

I'll never be able to understand why people get excited for and frequent nasty chains like Twin Peaks or Panera Bread when there is much, much better food from local restaurants.
