I think I missed that post, but I guess that school would be built north of Parkland, off either Dyer, McCombs or Stan Roberts. Could you repost the link?
Sure thing.. here is a link to the map.

El Paso Tx - Google Maps

There is a huge new development going in that area. Its called Mesquite. That is where the YISD High School as well as a Jr. High and Elementary will go as well.

Let me explain what your seeing some.. just in case your not familiar with the area.

At the right side you see a bunch of streets with Irish Names, this is where Underwood stables used to be. Great horse back riding if its still there. Next to that is some gray roof building, Next to that is an upside down triangle in the dirt made by dirt roads. That is where the new housing area is called Mesquite it goes all the way from Dyer to Patriot Freeway above with a road going all the way to another housing area off McCombs, and its said that it will all be filled in with houses and shopping and schools. Across Dyer is the Water Treatment plant, and a small desalination plant, Oh and that Tile Factory.

Futureland. I know that area, though I never went riding there. I used to pass it to buy fireworks at a stand on Dyer at the state line in Newman.

I remember that as something called Rosebud Importing. Might be something else by now.

Interesting to read that Bob Cook (president of EP Economical Developement) was saying that a large Aerospace company is seriously looking to relocate to El Paso with its high tech and high wages do to Lockheed Martin in Horizon City and do to Ft.Bliss expansion.

We shall see !!!

Thats good to know Muhnay.......

Thats what EP needs is for these high tech companies to come on in and hire people and pay high wages.

So maybe EP will see more benefits in the future with Bliss expansion than just troops coming in with their paychecks as others in the past alluded to.

yeah man.. I hope so too. You would think with our dry climate that some Tech companies, that rely on Servers would move into the city.. heck considering the low cost of doing business here they could even hire people at lower wages saving money and making a bigger profit, or pass the service on cheaper to the consumer.

Default Boeing

Actually, my wife worked for 3+ years for Boeing in Albuquerque, and they actually already - believe it or not - have some ops going in El Paso. Not sure what their emphasis is in their EP operations, but occasionally her co-workers actually had to travel to El Paso to work with their counterparts.

But maybe Boeing is considering expanding upon their Boeing ops. If that is the case, that would be great. I need a job there!

RosieRodriguez6 is on a distinguished road
You know flood 2006 really hurt my entire family extremely. My Great Grandma lived in the two most affected streets in El Paso. She lived on Ledo rd.... It was caused by them unleashing to much water from the pershing dam causing the dam to break.

None of the residents were warned the city was doing this so none of them were even prepared for anything.

We complained for 20 + years to make a larger drain or to help maintain the one we did have ( it was always dirty), but of course our pleas were left unaswered.

After being told they'd help us repair, they changed their minds and said " well we can't fix the drainage problem so you have to sell or deal with it"

My great grandma was raised in that home. Her mother my Great Great Grandma was the first owner. So basically my grandmother lived in the home for 50 -60 years. She raised 5 generations of us in that home.

Guess what? It's no longer hers now thanks to the city. Yes they may have helped us by another house, but they never really gave us the option to stay.

Even then the money we received wasn't sufficent enough to fully pay for a home. I understood they gave us way more then the value but they never considered that most the residents in the area had payed off their homes years ago.

To start over new was hard for many. Our neighbor had so much trouble buying a new home because banks didn't trust lending her large amounts being that she was 83.

Sorry I needed to rant after reading this. It truly hurts still . My great grandma cries every night because she misses her home and will never be able to see it again. She says that now that they are tearing it down they are taking her along side it.

Sorry to hear that Rosie, I remember seeing video of the flood waters pouring into that neighborhood. Money can often be little comfort when things of a sentimental nature are seen go.
