I don't know anything about unions, but I can tell you that Texas is an "at will" state; i.e., an employer can fire an employee for any reason, or no reason. (As long as it's not contrary to federal discrimination laws, and such). So, an employer could fire an employee for complaining about it's policies on the Internet, for example, perfectly legally.
