Default Call Center Employment News

I just read today in the EP Times that Alorica has chosen El Paso for its new center which will bring 1,500 jobs over the coming year. They specialise in Computer Hardware and Software, Consumer Electronics and Wireless Telecommunications.

Other companies last year in 2007 also announced they will be expanding this year are Automatic Data Processing, West Corp, Telerx and GC Services.

Also earlier this past week Convergys announced that they are setting up a new 500 position center in Las Cruces.

Mt first reaction to the idea of a new call center was "meh", but it seems there is the potential at least that it could spinoff into more technical positions. Always good. Muhnay I wouldn't immediately dismiss it. I know you have some technical skills with computers and what not, still wouldn't hurt to check it out. Customer service calls probably would have a higher demand for being bilingual, but the tech support people probably wouldn't have to encounter that so much. I'm sure that's not the first thing they're looking for in those positions at least..

They didn't say...but they did mentioned part of the reason they chose El Paso was because it's bilingual. But they also mentioned they chose El Paso do to the retired military and also the military spouses who will be coming in with the base expansion.

Their main business focus is not of any racial groups i.e. hispanics or spanish speaking groups but instead their employees will service people with electronic and technological questions about computer software/hardware and wireless communication technologies so i doubt whether that you would need to be bilingual only as you would take calls from all over the united states although that couldn't hurt you either if you were bilingual was my take on it.

The CEO would not disclose what the starting payscale is but he did say it is substantually higher than most centers as this is a highly technological knowledged enviroment and that they were willing to train the employees in these fields which could help in the IT industry there stated Bob Cook the REDCO director for El Paso.

Thats true Holmes. And it would be better to have call centers in El Paso, than in India, or some other far off country.

Yeah SIXFOOTTHREE, that maybe true.. but I am sure one of the aspects is because they want them bilingual speakers this city provides. Jobs is jobs, and if they pay a living wage then I welcome them with open arms.

Yeah, this outfit is actually out there currently recruiting for more conventional professional white collar jobs (that would obviously support the call center) for their new operations in the Las Cruces area...these are respectably well-paying white collar jobs too...not just the more classic $12/hour call center jobs (not that there is anything wrong with those either, of course).
