I can't wait to go. I have been to TX three times before (Thanks USAF)! NOW I am moving my family! Our two young kids (4, 8) are very much into baseball & football. My husband and I are coaches and team mom for everything. Plus very involved in the republican party and church. We love the small town feeling (population under 35,000) with southern hospitality. We have family in El Paso, TX and like to stay away from Houston due to my hubby job. We don't mind near Dallas. We are visiting in Feb for 1 week. Thanks!

Default Small Town

One of the best small towns in the State has to be Alpine. Its is high and dry
and is the home of Sul Ross University.

Temple or Killeen, would be a good choice then.. you would be smack dab between three huge metro areas. if you have any military benefits, there is a military base there. The area is much greener than Alpine and El Paso. And your not cut off from the rest of the world. You could make a short trip up or down and be in a major metro area for shopping or dining. And you would have a small town feel, with large town benefits. Central Texans seem more respectable and freindly to me.. something to consider.. Oh and there are jobs out that way as well.

Something the wife and I are consdering.. if Portland OR does not work out for us.
