El Paso Inc. has an article that says city council will review/vote on the matter on Sept 9. City and developer may have hit a snag w/ some disagreements.

Foster/Regency asked City Council to delay the decision for a week. CC granted it. R/F wants more time for negotiations.

The city council has approved the $8 million tax break for this shopping center. The same ole three (who vote against anything positive): Holguin, Quintana, and Castro voted against it. It was surprising to see Ann Lily vote against it as well. Mayor Cook broke the tie and voted for the tax break. It will now move on to the County Commissioners for another tax break vote.

"The Fountains shopping center will need to build lifestyle amenities like outdoor dining and high-end landscaping to get the tax break."

I can't wait either. I work by there, so I have to see that eyesore everyday. Probably most people in El Paso see that thing everyday.. since its in a prime location next to Cielo Vista, so it will be great for everyone..when it will finally be replaced with a high end shopping place like The Fountains.

This place is huge, so it will be a pretty large shopping "lifestyle" area.

I couldn't find any pictures of the proposed mall, so this video from channel 7 shows a few pictures of the mall on there.

I read that Rep Castro said that this will probably fail which don't believe will happen ........but even if it did the new structure is replacing an eyesore the old Farah plant which that in it's self is a positive For EP.
