Default How to find out if a house we rented was Illegal

Some first post huh guys?

How would we go about finding this out? Who would we need to contact? It's not like our old landlord will tell us if her house was illegal to rent. What channels will I need to go through?

If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks guys.

Illegal as in not zoned for rental? If so then check with the zoning commission.

I just need to find out to find out where a place you were renting is or is not illegal. That's all.

Well if you want any info or help you need to better explain.

Now are you Illegal, or know an illegal? And by renting here you or they are breaking the law.. is that the question? I am confused by your question and lack of or willing to give more info. My COP instincts are kicking in and I am starting to wonder what your motive is.

Too vague, mistyck. Need more information so we can better assist you. Why would you think that the "landlord" is renting her house out illegally? Why would you think it was illegal anyway? You think the "landlord" is not the owner of the house and the owner does not know that the house is being rented out? So many assumptions we can draw from your post,,,more info is needed.

When you "old landlord", it seems you must not be renting any longer from her, did you feel she evicted you unfairly, that she might have been hiding something? Is it a tenants' rights issue? Or do you feel that some kind of fraud was being done? If there's a crime involved would it be the police you would turn to?
