Default Gfg

There are a couple within 15 min of Ft Bliss (not sure how far you're willing to drive).

The gym I recommend is Get Fit Gym, located on Montwood and Yarbrough. Its adjacent to the Montwood Movies Theater, just walk in through the cinema entrance and it'll be to the right of the ticket office. Its a kickboxing/high-intensity/calorie shedding workout.

I don't believe they have a website...the head trainer used to be at Lean Mean Fitness but has since moved on to GFG. I believe the cost comes out to $50-$60 a month. You get unlimited training sessions and some personal one-on-one time with the trainer. This guy has coached professional UFC fighters (only one I can think of atm is Cheick Kongo) and by checking out his current fighters (who usually go undefeated in regional tournaments), you know he is legit.

The gym was recently opened a couple months ago, so I'd head over there soon (maybe you can score a deal for joining early).

I'm not looking for hardcore training. I am interested in cardio boxing though. I was about to go to L.A Boxing but am open to other gyms. Do you think he is too extreme for what I am looking for?

Not at all. He's not the drill sergeant-type trainer . It is mostly boxing w/a little bit of kickboxing mixed in. The members who attend are of all fitness levels, so I'd give it a shot.

About 3+ years ago, he was the trainer for LA Boxing. In fact, he is the guy whose face is blurred out on their commercial Unless I'm mistaken, you are bound to a contract w/LA Boxing and there is an early termination fee. GFG is on a month-per-month basis...

TexasCCW, do you attend either of the CF gyms in El Paso? I stopped by the eastside gym and liked what I saw, but was turned off by the price tag...if I remember correctly it was $120 per month for a 1 yr contract, $130 for 6 months, $150 month-by-month.

@TexasCCW, I am pretty content/happy with my weight lifting. I know the positives of cross fit but I like to do one day of weights and one day of cardio.

Yes, I attend the eastside location. You do not have to go to a box to do Crossfit. You can go to the crossfit site and follow the WOD (workout of the day). The reason I attend is for the camaraderie and to learn the proper form. $120-$150 is a small price to pay for improved health and function.
