You can be a homeowner at 45K but how much of that 45K do you actually take home? Just don't buy a home too big for your budget.

I actually lived in El Paso, TX for 2 yrs back when i was first married in the early 70's. My ex husband was a Marine but grew up in El Paso. When he went overseas, our infant daughter and myself went to live with his mother and step-father. I recall going to Juarez every week so my mother-in-law could get her hair done over there. They were not Hispanics but Caucasians. I would often go to Ft. Bliss for medical care.

When my husband came back from Okinawa we ended up down in the Valley close to the Rio Grande living in a mobile home. Things were different back in those days.

My last name in those days was Haynes so who knows someone may have known my husband. Anyone recognize the name of Tommy Akers? How about Strain (last name) ?

I recognize the last name "Strain". In the 1960's I knew an auto mechanic named A. C. Strain. Same person?

Hi, coming from up North been looking at living in Texas. Been avoiding El Paso due to its proximity to Mexico and safety. The jobs hace excellent reviews on Indeed and pay more than a lot of jobs applied to in Texas already. One started about $40K and the other $45K rents seem pretty darn on expensive in El Paso.

How is safety is it more about being smart If you catch my drift? Would not speaking Spanish be a hindrance? Trying to relearn it slowly.

How's weather? Dry Heat arid desert like?

Is there options for higher education?

Appreciate the insight.
