My mom and step dad live in in the west up the mountains in the 79912 zip Code. It's supposed to be one of the most exclusive zip codes in El Paso. Can anyone here confirm it? From their backyard they get a good view of west El Paso all the way to New Mexico. What are the other desirable areas of the city? And does anyone here live in the 79912 zip code or near by.

Actually, the zipcode is a mixed bag of housing.. with and without views. Over the years I lived at 5 different addresses in the zipcode. Some I liked more than others.

It depends on what is meant by exclusive, it's okay, but there are houses just as big or bigger in other zip codes. Many zip codes here have their pockets of poverty, housing projects and pockets of affluence. 79912 is plenty nice but so are other zip codes. Maybe they live up in Crazy Cat which would give views like that and those houses are certainly expensive.

We are currently in 79922, the upper valley, but will be moving to the mountain side 79912. On the west side you can either live in the valley on flat land and look up into the mountains or live on the mountain on uneven terrain and enjoy views of the valley. Its all personal taste as is whether to live on the Eastside or Westside.

As someone who was always "Westside," I often felt the Northeast side of EP was highly underrated if not harshly berated. It got some negative press for many years especially in the late 80's. It wasn't until I took a course at the EPCC Trans Mountain campus back in 96 & thought "this is great!" I've always adored Mountain Park & it's ideal location & has everything.

Thank you.. and I have to say that even though I have been critical of the West Side, It does have its charm. That white church on the hill and that back drive along the mountain with the older 1960 houses, is one of my favorite places to cruise in El Paso. The style and architecture of the houses there is awesome. The west side continues to expand and improve.. and thats great news.
Speaking of the North East Community College, it is expanding, as is the rest of the North East.. we have continued growth here as well. I only wish El Paso would embrace the style and architecture of UTEP and spread it around the city as a distinct character of El Paso.
