Hi-
I'm wondering which of these towns I should see 1st:
Which Should I Go To 1st??: El Paso, Lake Charles or Lubbock/Hobbs, NM.

I've been to El Paso Airport is all I've seen/done in El Paso on the way to Vegas (2001) & I've been to Lubbock b/c I'm a proud grad of TX TECH.

I've been to Shreveport-Bossier, Monroe & New Orleans but not Lake Charles.

I've been to Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Carlsbad Caverns & Roswell but not Hobbs.

Thanks,
fallguy

Goto Lake Charles.. see how they are still recovering from the Hurricane that hit them a couple years back.. ( still a pretty place ) but scarred bad by the damage.. why LS. cant get on top of stuff like that is beyond me. I almost moved to Lake Charles, its a nice city.. My wifes dad lives in deRidder, the reason we almost moved to Lake Charles.

Hobbs used to be where Ford had a plant, since it closed.. I don't know what Hobbs is like any more.. it was nice at one time. My Dad used to be a manager there.

El Paso..

How long do you plan on being in one and what do you want to do, what kinds of activities are you planning on doing?

I want to look at L'Auberge du Lac Casino Lake Charles (over an hour-ish then stay free at a friend's house in Houston) & see The U.S. Border Patrol Museum in El Paso & stay free with a friend in El Paso.

I think the drive to & from El Paso would be over some 3-day wknd, like Labor Day.

Lubbock & Hobbs would be to see friends from my alma mater, TX TECH...

Then I'd say go for the El Paso trip. The weather is usually great that time of the year. The chilis are ripe --- it's a very nice time of the year here.

Good luck!! It's a good time of the year for a trip like that -- probably the best time of the year over all. Big Bend is very nice and it won't be very hot because we're moving into the very pleasant weather season now.
