A good article in todays paper about how successful the Outlet Mall is doing that a Phase II construction and expansion will start in 2008.

El Paso Times - Outlet Shoppes call first month stellar

Great article Harry! Everything on that article is 100% true. When I went there I was surprised to see so many license plates from all over the country.. not just the ordinary Texas, NM, and Chihuahua plates.. but from all over.

I haven't gone on a weekend but I can just imagine how packed that place gets. Its not so bad during the middle of the week, plenty of parking spaces during that time and lots of space for you to shop comfortably. I saw lots of bargains the last time I went, so its starting to get nice for people looking for good deals. Tons of selection from your favorite brands too, it was nice going to a store and checking out all the different styles of clothing or merchandise from the same brand. I also liked the variety stores.. such as Old Navy and Gap that sell different brands at discount prices.

I can't understand how someone else didn't take advantage of this before.. El Paso is the perfect place for outlet malls and discount shops because of the number of people that come over from Mexico that come looking for good merchandise at good prices. They always talked about building an outlet mall here for the past 20 years.. now they are seeing how they should of built one sooner.

I can imagine someone building another one on the Eastside, one that is close to the Zaragosa Bridge, Loop 375, and I-10.. especially since this one on the Westside is such a huge hit.

I didn't know they were planning a Phase II, thats great! I bet every other outlet store that isn't in the new mall is now begging to get on board as well.

I thought it was interesting about the lady from Tulsa saying that in the whole state of Oklahoma there's nothing like this Outlet Center and that includes Oklahoma City which is well over 1 million in metro poulation and also is getting the Seattle Supersonics to move there.

I think Phase II when completed will really be a boom for EP when completed.....

I thought i'd revise this thread as i was just curious as to what if anything is new out in the Outlet Mall. Have they started Phase II yet. Also i know when it first opened up it was booming but since then is it still doing well?

My mom lives in EP and she says it is kind of pricey for an outlet mall. She says there are better deals elsewhere like the outlet mall in San Marcos.
