There are tall buildings there in the Uptown area in ABQ Chuco.

What about the area by Bassett as there are several high rises next to I-10 and Bassett shopping.

If we were to build an "uptown" it would still leave the current downtown behind and underdeveloped. Here in Dallas we have both an uptown (more affluent) and a downtown (business district, near some scary areas). They are close to each other, but separate places.

When I can afford it, I want to move uptown. It's a very nice area, good shopping, good entertainment, pedestrian-friendly, and right in the middle of the city life, so there are no long-commutes from the suburbs to make.

And that is what El Paso needs too. But will never see it.

El Paso and Dallas are nothing comparable in terms of size and population. Commutes in El Paso are a joke compared to the ones people make here, which is why I'd never move to a Dallas suburb but will happily move to an El Paso suburb.

I believe you guys, 6/3, thats why I asked which ones were they.. maybe I was too busy looking at the stores in the Uptown area.. which is nice btw.. but I don't remember seeing that many tall buildings.. so I am wondering which ones they are.. so I can check them out the next time I am up there.

The ABQ uptown area is much nicer than our Bassett area, but I see what you mean in the Bassett area and it does have a few tall buildings. I would think a new city center could grow in East El Paso.. plenty of space for one to grow there. Northeast El Paso with its master plan area.. that is going to be developed by Hunt, could become another nice city center.

Accidents are the only thing bad about our traffic. As long as there aren't any, you can whip across town in no time. There are many cities I would hate to live in because their traffic is so bad -- and it doesn't seem to matter that they have loops and a number of interstates to choose from, we have just the one and it's not too bad here.

I'm sure ''observe'' knows how tall they are but there nust be around 5 or 6 that are taller than 15 to 18 stories. I like the solid black one called the ''Darth Vader'' highrise. Infact i like it's uptown buildings better than ABQ actual downtown highrises.

Yea i dont live in El Paso but my grandparents do and everytime i go there there always building out that way in my opinion if they moved it it would do greater buisiness and people will want to move there buisinesses down there because downtown right now is next to juarez and no one wants to be close to there right now and nobody goes to the downtown now unless they have to so everyone saying that if they moved it the old one would be a dump well no one really thinks that its that nice right now so whats the difference
