My condolences to the Haskins family. The Bear will be missed by many in El Paso and elsewhere.

It is so wonderful how the community has shown its affection for Coach Haskins. He and the '66 team were the first things I learned about when we moved here. Hope the Don is packed and then some tomorrow. I think EPISD should name one of its new schools after him...too long in coming. God be with you Coach.

He was a good ol' guy !! I remember watching him on tv in the 70's as a kid and 80's as a teen and young adult as UTEP was the Wac Game of the Week alot on tv back then .

Best memories.....

How about the time back in the 70's when the New Mexico Lobos lost their uniforms so 30 min before the NCAA game UTEP vs UNM Coach Haskins let them wear the UTEP Road Uniforms in an actual NCAA Basketball game. Glory Road was a great movie !!!

Great loss for El Paso !!!

I remember back in the day, it think it was like 89, when henry hall, threw mark mcall that bounce pass for an alley oop, i remeber Haskins use to hate showboating plays like that, even though they won, he was still over there growling! lol

Josh Lucas on the passing of Don Haskins.

"Right now he's driving around up there in a huge white GMC truck, giving an angel a shot of tequila and roaring that heaven ain't got nothing on El Paso."

Beautiful.

Beautiful quote indeed, this is the epitome of how Haskins felt about the sun city! Great man indeed, their will never be another Don Haskins!
