Default when and will El Paso reach a population of 1,000,000?

Hello my fellow [cd's] quick question, do you think the Sun City will ever reach a population of a millie? I know its been pretty stagnant for a while, but with the ft bliss influx and the revitilization of downtown, it might not be that farfetched to think, we will reach "pltinum status". I think by 2020, we will reach a million, any thoughts?

There are so many people leaving the area because of the lack of good jobs that this question is hard to answer

I think the projections currently put El Paso in the million mark by 2020, I'm not 100% but I think we will be there around that time..

When I left in 1980, there were 400-450K+ residents, the city only gained about 200K in what, 28 years? Do people really think it will get to 1M (+~400K) by 2020? We are talking about permanent residents, not transients (aka military).

I guess I should of said that El Paso's metro area is expected to hit 1 million by 2020, not the actual population inside the city limits. El Paso's city population probably won't hit 1 million for another 30-40 years IMO.

Default Metro/Border Pop

The El Paso-Juárez border area has well over 2 million already. As time passes, the non-Hispanic population will continue to diminsh leaving the two cities to take on the character of one city at least ethnically. It seems to me that should be the compass for looking at population figures for the area rather than isolating El Paso.

Moderator.......a link to a competing site? It was not a competing site, it was merely a link to a table of Metro area population estimates!
