Default Dell City

Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone on this thread is from, lives in, or even knows about Dell City. I was always interested in DC because it's just a little town in the area that you never hear about. What the heck do people do out there to make a living? I remember I was at a college party last year and I met a guy from Dell City, the first person from there that I've ever met. I don't know just thought I'd ask!

Well I think we will start with an image.. it pretty much sums up what is done there, and how people make a living, ie:Farming and support of said farming.

dell city - Google Maps

But if that is not enough, here is a webpage I think will explain it all to well..

About Dell City, Texas

Still not enough.. well golly gee mister what do you want from me..

Will a wiki answer your question?

Dell City, Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If not maybe one other try.. this web pages profile on the place..

http://www.city-data.com/city/Dell-City-Texas.html

Hope that helps. Try Google it has all sorts of answers.

yeah ive played some six-man football games in Dell City when i was in high school. Dell City is pretty much a very small farming town with no restaurants, no grocery stores, a bunch of abandoned buildings, and one gas station. It has a small airport for the crop dusters. It's school is alright.
I have no idea why people woul dlive there but they are really friendly. two of my friends and their family live there.

Default I live in dell city

we have 2 gas station, 2 grocery stores, 1 school, most of the people who live here are farmers or teachers or are in some way affiliated with those businesses. There are other jobs such as dell telephone and the water company and others but I can't name em all. The Hudspeth chili festival is held here once a year usually in mid September and everyone, for the most part anyways, are friendly.

My dad's side of the family had a long history in the Dell City area. My grandfather owned 2 or 3 different cattle ranches in NM a few miles from Dell City so he would go into town for supplies. Anyway after he passed away, my dad bought one of the ranches and we would go up there when i was a little kid. You talk about barren, Dell City is it. There was some Mexican restaurant called Rosa's or Rosita's (i could be way off) that had some good food...they were always excited to have anyone there and you could order about anything to cook was capable of making. I also remember a grocery store, a gascard station (with no attendant), and there was a church of christ there as well. Its probably been 8 or 9 years since I've been there, but I doubt much has changed. I thought I was on the moon at the time but the some of the locals I met seemed pretty happy to be there.

I was just there a couple months back.. not much really going on there at all.. but I agree that the locals are very friendly and as everyone said.. its mostly farmers in DC.

I only met farmers while I was there and all I saw was farms, and a small cemetery on the road back to the highway. I stopped at a small store just as you are about to head to Dell City on the main highway and its like a little house with a tiny store inside of it, an older gentleman took care of us and was really friendly..didn't catch his name though.

my wife and I have been given 101 acres in Sparks Ranch by my parents. We wanted to move away from the crazy city life and feel this is a quiet place. However, it seems the residence there are cows, no people in site. We wanted to make a go of it, become sustainable and try our hand at Eco living. Is anyone out there doing the same? Or anyone can give us some advice?
