Hi all

Hoping someone here can advise me on somewhere beautiful to spend a long weekend in the NM mountains?

Mescalero has been suggested and looks wonderful.

The recommended hotel Inn of the Mountain Gods is full - are there any other good hotels or B&B's you know of?

We are flying from Austin, renting a car at airport.

thanks!

Southdown.....Mescalero is next to Ruidoso which is covered with B&B's, Inns and Cabins etc...

The Inn of the Mountain Gods is nice but my favorite is the Swiss Chalet (Mechem Drive) north of town as you are at about 9,500 ft and overlooking the town and even mountains below. Also there are Cabins on the main ave (Sudderth Drive) going thru town like The Black Bear lodge and Apache Village Cabins with the beautiful Rio Ruidoso flowing along them.

I have checked the Swiss Chalet and it looks fab but they only have smoking rooms left - bleah!

So I'll be searching through the others you mentioned and the Chambers info today....

Looks gorgeous there - are you local?

thanks again!

No....but i might as well be as i'm from Southern New Mexico (Las Cruces) and El Paso, TX as i've been going up there since the 1970's when i was a kid and over these years for vacation, pleasure, and employment etc...

Any other questions just ask and one of us posters who know the area will answer as i'm not the only one here who knows Ruidoso/Mescalero .

P.S. Glad i put you over 1,000 reps yesterday .

You might check Cloudcroft. It's not as touristy, but a friendly small town.

Also there are the other mountains -- toward Silver City.
