Way to Go UTEP!!! Winning Big against number 2 in the conference!!! And by 18 points!! Good Lord!! We are now tied with Houston for 4th an if we win against USm and Marshall beats UAB or SMU beats Houston (both of which are unlikely) we will get a high #3 seed in the C-USA Tourney!

You were correct sir, it was in that trailer.

It was a good game, I wish it had been full though. Still great to see #12 in his last game.

Great win last night for the Miners especially for Stephon and Tavaris. Also gotta thank the fans for coming out. I was surprised how many showed up for the home finale after coming off a loss to Tulane. This team still has a great shot at getting a NIT bod if they can to 20 wins which would be great especially with some bad losses. Who knows we could have a rematch with Memphis in the C-USA Tourney for the title or if not maybe a NIT home game possibly?

I'm not satisfied nor excited about NIT- we used to be a great program but UT & others way way outspent us.

Nobody should be content with the NIT. There is no confusion, there is the big dance, and then there is everything else. It's the NCAA tourny or then you are battling to determine the 66th best team in the country or worse.

Still, if the Miners don't make the NCAA tourny, I am disappointed but I happily attend any home NIT games. The more practices and games this team gets to have will only help us in future seasons.

Default Cib

So I guess the CIB won't turn your wheel? I think even if we make NIT, it is better than CIB or the other new tourney. At least you know you are in with the bubble teams who probably deserved to be in the NCAA if the ACC, Big East, Big 10, etc. were not sending their whole league to the tourney. I think I would enjoy a 22-11 mid-major than a 15-13 big conference 10th place also-ran (unless it is UCLA). After NIT, I believe it's really making games for TV (uh, like the bowl system). Perhaps that's why UTEP did badly last year; there is really no motivation to that all that well in a third tier tourney.

Caltep those Major conference also-rans are selected by strength of schedule just like any other team.
Teams that step up to major conferences deserve the opportunites. Arizona and Arizona State were both in the WAC with UTEP at one time and usually were at the top. ASU rarely goes to the NCAA's now and Arizona which probably won't go this year would probably trash any Conf-usa team outside of Memphis- they already beat Kansas - does UTEP have a similar non -conf victory to compare?

Cal may be one of those mid -conf Pac 10 schools but they have the highest percentage 3 pt stats in the nation - maybe they will get to play Memphis.

The other aspect about the Big Ten, Pac 10 and ACC schools is they care about academics- they aren't around just for sports. The Cincy's, UNLVs, Fresnos, Louisvilles etc have a history of recruiting thugs and other violations, I don't look at those programs very favorably.

Of course I would have LOVED to see UTEP go- that would be so exciting, but they would have to beat Memphis just once out of the three times they could play. That isn't asking too much for a team who is theoretically playing for the national championship.
